We all have heard alittle about Tiesto the last couple of weeks on this forum, hehe!

This is what mixmag have about him in this months issue :

Who better than the world’s biggest dance music magazine to bring you the story of the world’s biggest DJ.
Yes, this month’s cover star is trance superstar Tiesto. On the eve of his UK gig we caught up with the Dutchman in his homeland to uncover the story behind the phenomenon and how a farm boy from Breda became the biggest DJ of all time.

It's about music! Not one music style is better than the other, not one music style is more truly than the other. The whole thing is based on respect. It's all music, music never separates people!

lol, man this guy is down an 8,000 people show outdoors in DC this spetember.  sounds fun but he gets treated like he is the second coming of Jesus waaaay to much.  And the fact that he's gonna be spinning in a DJ booth thats 25ft up in the air is only adding to that.

but i'll probably at this anyway since its only $35 USD

gahahahahahaha!  :yell:

wtf is a matter with this guy? first shoes now effigies of himself as if he needs ne more attention. does he think he is THE GOD of EDM. bow down to ME! lolz  :D

jeez, seriously.second coming of jesus alright. i know so many people that pawn over him and every piece of music he produces. I know, its all relative and why pick on tiesto as he is nearly the same as some of the other genred self proclaimed gods to their industries too, selling out like a new GTA. its just sad to see that from my point of view. he is, or in my case was quality.

like why do people think he is sooooooo good? search a lil and find some backshelf artist. guaranteed they will sound better. i am just a fan of unknowns coz their music is with passion, not mass produced, name driven electro.

Well the higher up ur are in anything, the more you do to push the envelope to capitalize on anything possible, which causes fans to say you sold out.

As for tiesto, i think his approach to fame made him much more marketable than alot of "backshelf artist."  Its always good to look for new and unheard of stuff, which is what the underground is all about.  I personally love it when I find an awesome sleeper track.  But that doesnt necessaruly mean that all unknown music is better.  It just seems like it due to its unfamiliarity.  Its the same situation when people travel to a new country on vacation and say the girls are hotter, this is true about some places, but for the most part your just to dilusioned by the newness to see that its just like ur home country.

But as for Tiesto acting like the God of EDM.....

you are well travelled vitamin, this is how i see it -

i say that yes whilst the fact that you are at the peak of your career you will capitalise, fair enough. but what precedent are you leaving the up and comings and the soon to  peak artists? Tiesto i bet isnt led by himself, he is led by marketers and agents with their interests in mind, of course to retain his career he would oblige willingly to their requests and marketing schemes because that puts the cash in his pocket which i cant argue is a bad thing, i am simply saying here that his actions will possibly have what they call a negative multiplier affect ruining future for want of a better term 'idolised' figures of the EDM culture.

so because of all this the objective is lost of why he made the music in the first place, or perhaps it has taken a distant backshelf position gathering dust. You cant tell me that looking at that picture below that the flashing lights and extravagant stages, which i believe ARE JUST FOR HIM and the fact he is going to perform mid air are his ideas? give me a break. he is probably pressured into this crap, same with tracks. quantity over quality.

finesse, you can't argue has gone out the window in my opinion. why? A combination of things but i think chiefly because of what ive said. i mean look at him compared to armin being a pretty close counterpart in terms of popularity and i only mean this in terms of achievement that holds a grain of salt in the REAL world. I mean tiesto ought to be congratulated. The guy has sucessfully made a hobby his career, whereas Armin has a law degree, he's set up. If he fails he has a prominant position in which to fall back on. I dont know or not if he actually works as a lawyer off tour or during the week but thats achievement.

lets look at the EDM industry. It is huge with Europe being the foray for all this, all this idolisation is wrong. You only idolise someone to fulfill your inadequacy, in this case the millions who cant DJ as well as Tiesto and wish to be tiesto and its all relative for any commanding figure on stage for that matter. fair enough but exploiting this by giving them masks and making them shoes is a plain grab at two things.

1 - money
2- attention

and not necessarily in that order too. if that isnt selling out than what the hell is? some people on this site say back to backs with dj sammy or his own brand of coke as ive implied may well happen.

what next? i cant stop this make for money, backshelf artists want it too. They want the big time, the limelight. shift attention and status changes VERY quickly from quaint late saturday night alley club spinner to a renowned artist. i say keep a broad mind in terms of who you like. Dont go around wearing masks, worshipping your favourite artist  like he or she saved your life. its just niave.

and i personally think bakshelf artists are better, not because of its unfamiliarity, its the feel, the vibe that someone put their absolute all into a track. people are delusional in terms of seeing something new in comparison to what they have grown to know. Not true in my case. because i search for the new sound the uniquity of the sound is what makes it better. comparing is just a way of ranking in ones mind. when you appreciate all the music such analogies and contrasting nature in appear as nothing but folly.
